1. Describe your featured media and how it will enhance the user’s life and experience.

This medium will enhance the human’s visual experience. It is a convenient way to watch DVD movies portably and in high quality. It improves your portable DVD experience by having a higher quality screen, flexible inbuilt speakers, and makes traveling more efficient due to the lack of space this new media technology takes up. When folded up, it fits right into your pocket, as it can fold down to fit into your palm. This product is mainly targeted for a business traveler who is looking for an easier way to watch movies on the go. For businessmen, portability is a must, and they are willing to pay more for a high quality product like this one. Although it targets the businessman, this product is perfect for anyone that travels a lot.

2. Outline the elements this invention retrieves from past technologies.

Aside from being a step-up from the usual portable DVD players we see day to day, the main archaic element that is made relevant again is the concept of origami. This is very archaic because the Asians invented origami centuries ago as a form of art. Now, we are incorporating origami into our future technology. Osman Con Ozcanli, the lead designer, stated that they “were brain storming on how the ancient art of origami could be applied to future product concepts”, which is exactly what they have done.

3. State what this new media will obsolesce.

This medium is a step up from, and replaces the pre-existing portable DVD player. It shows that it is unnecessary to carry a large piece of equipment with you just to be able to watch a movie. Instead, you can just fold up the screen and use up much less space. It bypasses the hassle of trying to squeeze your DVD player into your carry on, or bag by folding it up so it fits into your palm and sliding it into your pocket. The older version of the portable DVD player will most likely disappear entirely unless the Origami DVD Player is not as successful as planned.

4. Define what factors this invention will reverse when pushed to its outer limit.

Originally, the portable DVD player was made for people to watch DVDs on the go. The Origami DVD player has further enhanced this invention by making it extremely easy to transport and travel with. Although, this future piece of technology does contradict itself because if it is planned on being used in the future, DVDs and DVD players will most likely disappear.
